About Michael Anderson

How long have you lived in Bookham?
We’ve lived in Bookham for nearly 35 years, having moved here from Fetcham

Why did you volunteer for the Bookham Vision project?
We are very fond of the community in which we live and think that Bookham
is indeed a special place. This is why I am pleased to be involved in the Bookham Vision Project. I hope that we can help maintain what is good and achieve improvements for the future.

What skills/experience do you bring to the Bookham Vision team?
I have been involved in many aspects of Bookham life over the years. I was
a Mole Valley District Councillor for Bookham South from 1991 to 2004 and chairman of the Council in 1995-6. I was Chair of Governors at The Howard of Effingham School for nine years and am at present a Governor at the Dawnay School. I’m also a former Chair of the Leatherhead Area Police and Community Partnership Group and remain interested in Police and community safety matters. Currently I’m Deputy Chairman of Surrey Crimestoppers. I have a good knowledge and understanding of many elements the plan will focus on and hope that my experience will bring good value to the team.

Are you involved in any other Bookham related activities (voluntary, clubs etc)?
I’m a member of the Bookhams’ Residents Committee Executive and their representative on the Norbury Park Liaison Group. I belong as well to a number of other local organizations, including the Bookham Decorative and Fine Arts Society and the Bookham and District U3A.
