Nosey parkers? Not quite ...

Article about the recent car park survey at Lower Shott

Nosey Parkers?  Not quite say Bookham Vision

The Bookham Vision team sprang into action last week, to analyse the use of the car park at Lower Shott in Bookham.

“Parking, and parking provision, is one of the issues raised in the response to our initial inquiries through the Likes, Dislikes, and Wants survey, which has been distributed to every household in Bookham,” said Michael Anderson, Leader of the Transport and Access Work Group, one of the 4 Work Groups in the Bookham Vision village planning activity “one of our responsibilities is to understand the overall situation regarding parking in the village. We need in doing this to be aware of where and why people park and the use which is made of our local car parks.  We are today merely gathering information - nothing more.  Our findings on this and on many other transport issues, will be reported back to the community in due course”.

Michael Agius, a member of the Work Group, who organised the survey, hailed it a success: “we were able to get a good view of how this busy car park is used, and received a lot of support from the people we spoke to, including one lady who now cycles up the hill to the Lower Shott shops because she can never find a parking space!”

Bookham Vision’s Chairman, Trevor Sokell, added, “through our initial survey we’ve gained an understanding of the key likes dislikes and wants of Bookham’s residents about many aspects of life in the village.  We now need to look further into these, gather the facts and produce a more detailed questionnaire that will provide us with the data we need to form the basis of a comprehensive plan for the future evolution of Bookham”.
